Ramaa Pishima

Sriyukta Ramaa Rani Bhattacharyya

Soon after sunrise on Saturday 10 July 1999, Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj's sister, Sriyukta Ramaa Rani Bhattacharyya, passed away from this world after being hospitalised for a short time. Affectionately known as 'Ramaa Pishima' she had maintained steady, though somewhat poor, health for several years before suddenly being admitted to the local nursing home in Nabadwip. After a day she became unconscious but appeared very peaceful and graceful lying in her bed. The doctors did all they could, but after a further two days Ramaa Pishima slipped away peacefully from this world.

Accompanied by Sankirttan, her body was brought to the Math with much honour. Traditional prayers were chanted and rituals performed here in the Temple before she was taken the kilometre or so to the local burning ghat. Her ashes were placed into the care of Mother Ganges in the presence of a sizeable contingent of devotees and family.

Ramaa Pishima is very fondly remembered by countless devotees who have had her gentle association here, and particularly by those fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to serve her. Anyone seeing Ramaa Pishima was automatically reminded of Srila Sridhar Maharaj, especially due to some strikingly similar features, in particular her face, delicate hands and auspicious feet.

Srila Govinda Maharaj cut short his stay in Jagannath Puri in order to preside over the festival in her honour which, according to local custom, takes place ten days after passing away. This festival was attended by many of her family as well as an influx of our Math's devotees from their homes and our other Temples.

May Ramaa Pishima give her blessings to help us faithfully tread the path so clearly prepared for us by Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj and made available to the world today by Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj. Her remembrance will certainly live long.

Rsabdev Prabhu

Sri Rsabdev Prabhu and Srila Govinda Maharaja - First World Tour.

All Glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga

Sripad Rsabdev Prabhu passed away very peacefully at 8pm Saturday 17th June 2000 here in Sri Dham Navadvipa in the direct presence of Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj and over 20 devotees as they chanted the Maha-Mantra and read from Srimad Bhagavad-gita. It was all very special. He was a selfless, dedicated devotee who rendered various services, though perhaps best known as the former manager of our Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Seva Ashram, Soquel, California. Rsabdev Prabhu's final breaths were taken lying on his back with his eyes open, his japa mala and Sri Gita on his chest, and with Srila Gurudev pouring a little Charanamritam in his mouth. So beautiful, and all felt blessed to have been present during his exemplary passing away. Srila Gurudev then chanted various "Ki jai's" and repeatedly chanted, "Sripad Rsabdev Prabhu, ki jai!"

Rsabdev Prabhu's body was presently brought very respectfully, fully garlanded, lying on a bed before Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev- Goswami Maharaj at his Samadhi Mandir and then before the effulgent Deities of Their Lordships Sri Sri Guru-Gauranga-Gandharvva- Govindasundarjiu. Accompanied by continuous Kirttan his body was taken for traditional bathing in the Ganga, and cremation. The ashes then being offered unto the shelter of Mother Ganges.

A festival is to be held on Tuesday 20th June in honor of Sripad Rsabdev Prabhu.

While sending our condolences to the bereaved, we all feel Sripad Rsabdev Prabhu's life's ambition has been gloriously achieved.

Respectfully,

-Mahananda das B.R.

Sanatana Prabhu

Sri Sanatan Prabhu

We report the passing away late yesterday afternoon, 14th July 2002, in Calcutta of Prabhu Sanatan, a highly respected member of our Math and a much honoured associate of Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj. By the invitation of his good wife our devotees chanted at a function at their residence before the body was taken for cremation. Prabhu Sanatan passed away suddenly from a long standing heart condition. He served as manager of our Math in Sri Vrndavana.
