This evening Shanta Maharaj gave a talk on the attitude and mood of a soul who is genuinely interested to advance in spiritual life. In general many souls are coming to the path of devotion to become happy, to become peaceful or for many similar reasons. If they do not find that then they get disappointed and ultimately leave the spiritual life. This is happening due to the lack of proper understanding of our real position.
Mahaprabhu told us that, the jiva soul is an eternal servant of Krishna. However, we have no direct access to Lord Sri Krishna. Krishna is mercifully coming to us in the form of Sadhu, Guru and Vaisnava. By serving Sadhu, Guru and Vaisnava our service will directly reach Krishna. If we can realize that our real business is to do everything for the satisfaction of Sadhu, Guru and Vaisnava then we will remain safe in our spiritual journey. We will never bother about our own happiness or distress, our own glory or insult. Sometimes we may get happiness while carrying out our devotional services and sometimes we may get distress – like Arjuna was pained to kill his nearest and most dear to satisfy the order of his Gurudev Lord Sri Krishna. Sometimes we may be glorified while doing the devotional services and sometimes we may receive sever insults from our environment – like the Gopis used to receive from their family men due to their so called illicit connection with Krishna. However, a genuine devotee of Krishna (a genuine slave of Sadhu, Guru and Vaisnava) knows very well that he has no business to think about his/her own happiness, distress, glories and insults. His only business is to do everything to please his/her master. That type of mood we are cultivating in the Rupanuga line and that is the essence of the teaching of Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaja. Srila Sridhar Maharaja established Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math to practice that type of pure devotion.
